Spring!

. Wednesday, March 18, 2009

It's spring here already. But 姣龙 was saying that there's no spring in Hangzhou, cause the temperature will just rise to near summer temperatures all of a sudden. But anyway, trees that were previously barren are now in bloom. Whole trees full of flowers.
This was our dinner on Monday. 东北菜. We've been to this place previously when we went to the Botanical Gardens and we quite liked it. That's 小锅羊肉 which is not that appealing to me and that is 地三鲜, consisting of potatoes, brinjals and green peppers. Oily but yummy. And it's rather hard to distinguish between the potatoes and brinjals.
And this's the nicest food that i've eaten here, though it's not a local dish. 蛋黄南瓜. Heavenly taste. And everyone that i've talked to about this dish agrees that it's very nice. ;P
And this's 哈红肠, sausages that taste better than they look.
We had a surprise treat that night from 恒丰 who brought us bbq-ed drumsticks. Full of flavour.
This was bought at the hypermart near the campus here yesterday. 凉粉. We get to pick these cold dish and the salesperson will mix it in a bowl with spices and peanuts, machiam like rojak. But i had to admit it was pretty disappointing.
The one picked up by the wooden chopsticks looked like a capsule that will burst and fill the whole mouth with whatever is inside but it's not the case. It's just bee hoon in this size...
And this is one very weird drink that only Pika enjoys. It's called 啤儿茶爽. Absolutely weird tasting. It's tea trying to emulate the taste of beer packaged in a plastic bottle, shaped like a beer bottle. Why try so hard?
